EMBRACING INCLUSIVITY, CONNECTING COMMUNITES AND CREATING FRIENDSHIPS

We provide a safe and inviting space for vulnerable and disabled adults to come together and socialise with their peers. Under the umbrella of PHAB, we’re all about fostering equal opportunities and friendships between both able-bodied and disabled individuals. Join our supportive community where everyone feels welcome!

The Multiple Abilities Club started at The Grocott Centre 20 plus years ago. Carol and Alan Haw took over the running of the club. It was run under the PHAB umbrella. They then moved to Fenton Community Hall, after which they moved to the to the Trent Golf and Country Club, where they stayed for many years. During this period the club grew to well over a thousand members/clients.

Post Covid we opened on Tuesday evenings first at Packmoor Community Hall, then at Joiners Square. Where we still are from 5.45pm to 9pm. We regularly have 130 plus attendees. We have just opened on Thursday evenings from 6pm to 9pm, where we play games, listen to music and have a disco.

Around six years ago we began negotiations with the council to take over the renovation and running of Fenton Community Hall. We received some SIPT funding and since reopening post covid have been using monies taken to continue with the renovations on it.

This will become our home where we will be able to expand our social opportunities for the club and the community. The hall will also be available for hire to the public.

We have trustees and volunteers, from differing backgrounds, all having a disability or a family member with one. We feel that this gives us a level of compassion and understanding of our clients.
